With many having mixed emotions and understandably broken hearts, Eric Matthews and the E.M. Matthews Family has been given the solemn duty to serve notice that Mr. Brandon Maurice Evans no longer has to tolerate life’s fitful fevers. Mr. Evans stepped out of life’s backdoor on Saturday, October 11, 2025 while resting at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, NC surrounded by his loving and devoted family.
Life Honoring Services for Maurice will commence with a public visitation on Saturday, October 18, 2025 between the hours of 5pm and 7pm in the main chapel of E.M. Matthews Funeral Home. The immediate family will be present from 6pm to 7pm to greet guests. A formal “farewell” celebration will take place on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at 12noon in the Goldsboro-Raleigh District Assembly located at 211 W. Hooks River Rd. Goldsboro, NC. On Monday October 20, 2025 commencing at 2pm, Mr. Evans’ earthen vessel along with his cherished family will be escorted to the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery for Interment Rites accompanied by Military Honors. Although Maurice exited this walk called life and left his family with a void that only God can fill, they can find comfort knowing that if he could leave them any consolation, it would be these Love-able Lord-like words: I’m free....praise the Lord I’m free....I’m no longer bound, there no more chains holding me...for my soul is resting, it’s just a blessing.......praise the Lord, Hallelujah.....I’m free.
Visitors are being received at his beloved mother’s residence 1205 Maple St. Goldsboro, NC beginning on Tuesday October 14, 2025 after 5pm. It is also the location where the family will also assemble in preparation for the Prestigious E.M. Matthews Motorcade.
The Evans and connected families are being served with Genuine Compassion and Distinguished Class by the E.M. Matthews Servants of Service.
