Ms. Joan Monk

With a multitude of compassion and concern, the Batchelor Brothers Funeral Home Family announces the earthly departure of Ms. Joan Monk. Ms. Monk pulled the drapes on this journey called life on Wednesday morning, September 28, 2022 at her home. 

On Friday, October 7, 2022, between the hours of 4 pm and 7 pm, Ms. Monk will lie in peaceful repose in the main chapel on the Campus of Batchelor Brothers Funeral Establishment. During these intimate moments, those special to Ms. Joan and her adored family can support each other as they begin the healing process due to this tremendous loss. 

A Service Of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 12 noon followed by the life-honoring services in the sanctuary of  “One Church” 118 S Berkeley Blvd, Goldsboro, NC 27534, Ms. Monk and her cherished family, will be escorted to Wayne Memorial Park South in Dudley for Entombment Rites. No child ever plans to say “goodbye” to their mother, however, the peace that surpasses all understanding has undergirded these loving children, grandchildren, siblings, and family and will sustain them, as they realize that God will hold them in the hollow of His compassionate hands.

Life-long memories will forever be remembered by her loved ones:

Children: Xavier E. Barca “Samuel C. Monk” (Marie -deceased), Lushonna Monk Daniels (Timothy), and Derrick J. Monk Sr. (Samantha); 

Sisters: Essie Cox “Sis”, Helen Jackson (deceased), Margie Lee Monk Johnson “Dump” (deceased), Geraldine Monk Archie (deceased); 

Brothers:  (Raymond C. II “Bud” and  Emma Monk [deceased] ), George Monk (Carol), James Monk (Christine), Bobby Monk Sr. (Gloria), Larry Monk Sr. (Diana), and Harry Monk Sr. (Carolyn); Grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends. 

Visitors are asked not to take any photos or videos during any of the scheduled events. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
